Dr. Md. Shakhawat Hossain is currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Management Studies at the University of Barishal, Bangladesh. He holds a Ph.D. in Tourism Management from Jagannath University, funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh. He completed his Ph.D. coursework at Shanghai Maritime University, China, under a Chinese Government Scholarship. Additionally, he earned his MBA and BBA degrees from the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. Dr. Hossain has also completed a Faculty Development Program at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), India.

His teaching areas include Sustainable Tourism, Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, Strategic Management, Principles of Management, and Marketing Management, among other courses related to business and tourism studies.

Dr. Hossain has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, with his research articles indexed in Web of Science, Scopus, ABS, and ABDC. His research interests span sustainable green tourism, tourists’ satisfaction, smart tourism, artificial intelligence, digital entrepreneurship, social media, climate change, and pro-environmental behavior. Through his research, he has actively contributed to advancing environmentally responsible tourism practices, with a particular focus on the intersection of sustainable tourism and tourist satisfaction.

In addition to journal publications, Dr. Hossain has participated in numerous national and international conferences as a presenter, participant, and invited guest. He has collaborated with researchers on diverse topics and is passionate about addressing societal challenges through innovative solutions. Dr. Hossain is open to research collaborations at both national and international levels and welcomes discussions on tourism, sustainability, and digital transformation.
