Short Biography:

Dr. Tareq Mahamud Abir was born in Dhaka (Bangladesh) in 26 th October 1987. He received his Ph.D in Sociology in 2019 from CCNU (Central China Normal University) Wuhan, China. In 2012 he has joined University of Barishal as a Lecturer and promoted as Assistant Professor in March 2016. Now he is serving as Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology, University of Barishal. He was also a guest lecturer in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science & Technology University (BSMRSTU). His research is situated in the area of Climate Change, Disaster Risk Analysis, Coastal Adaptation, Disaster and Community Resilience and Societal Dimension of Health and Disaster. Dr. Abir teaches several courses on Environmental Sociology, Research Methodology, Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies, Gender Society and Development and Sociology of Sustainable Development. He has been involved in many collaborative national and international research projects with different ministries and NGO’s and trying to contribute on policy making. He is the author and co-author of different national and international referred peer reviewed and SCI journals. He is also the reviewer of International Journal of Environment and Climate Change and Journal of Environment and Pollution. Dr. Abir has also attended various workshops and conferences in collaboration with National Academy of Planning and Development (NAPD), BRAC and UNICEF. He is also the honorable member of Bangladesh Sociological Association, Climate Action Network International (CANI) and Organizing Secretary of Education, Research and Development Foundation (ERDF).
