Short Biography:
Md. Sunbin Islam serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Barishal, Bangladesh. He earned a Master of Arts in International Relations from Waseda University, Japan, as a recipient of the MEXT Scholarship, and a Master of Social Science in Political Science from the University of Dhaka. His research interests encompass governance, political representation, electoral politics, sustainable urban development, as well as religious and identity politics in South Asia. He has published multiple peer-reviewed articles in both national and international journals, addressing topics such as sustainable cities, political representation, electoral boundary delimitation, and political ecology. Md. Islam has also secured research grants from the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), USA, and the Jibonanondo Das Research Centre at the University of Barishal. At the University of Barishal, he has taught courses such as International Relations, Governance Studies, Research Methodology, and Geopolitics. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he serves as Student Advisor and participates in various academic and administrative committees. His academic and professional activities demonstrate a sustained commitment to advancing democratic values, sustainable development, and inclusive governance in Bangladesh.
